I made this photo while studying in Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. Hurricane Frances was on its way, about 3 days out maybe, and so the surf was especially turbulent and made for some great sea shots. The grin on this man's face is what makes this photograph. The crashing waves were dangerous enough, but considering the strong pull of the water back out to sea it made for "not-so-welcoming" conditions.
