Sketched with pencil, filled in with charcoal, and then a slight touch of color pencil. What attracts me to this piece are the eyes...looking at me with such intensity and evoking feelings of pride or grandure. When I first started the sketch I didn't think it would have the impact that it does. But the more charcoal I layed down, the more depth and substance came through. What once was a mediocre sketch transformed into this elegant and powerful piece.
