I found the color so vibrant and beautiful from the rust bleeding into the wood...that I just had to photograph it. I found this in the lagoon (in Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles) laying on some rocks. It must have washed up there during high tide. Now I'm not quite sure where it came from, but it could possibly still be a remnant from Hurricane Luis that hit Sint Maarten in 1995 and destroyed everything.
Here's a link to a YouTube video about Hurricane Luis: YouTube Link
All over the island you still see abandoned apartment complexes, large resorts, sailboats, and even a casino that is now 1 foot deep in mud...with chips laying all over the place and mixed in with the mud. It has been so forgotten that the local habitation is taking over it, with plants growing inside the casino within the mud and all up the walls. I even saw a roulette table. Oh, I got some souvenirs that day I went to check it out ;) ...unfortunately not the roulette table as it was so heavy and buried within the mud that I couldn't even budge it with all my strength.
